News 12 Long Island seeks a Chief Pilot who will be responsible for managing the Chopper 12 program.  This will include conducting flights to ensure complete coverage of stories for all News 12 operations. Ensure compliance with all FAA regulations with respect to the maintenance and operation of the aircraft.  Maintain flight logs and training records in accordance with FAA regulations and company policy. Train, schedule and manage temp pilots. Establish and maintain written operating procedures designed to maximize the safety, efficiency and productivity of the program.

This position also requires regular coordination of video projects and newsgathering efforts with all News 12 operations.  Also, included is the coordination of maintenance of the helicopter and video equipment with internal and external support groups and vendors.  Participation in special projects and performance of other duties as assigned. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to successfully manage and train pilots and photographers and take direction from supervisor and the newsgathering operations.

This position is based out of Farmingdale, NY.

Qualifications

• Commercial Pilot Helicopter
• Instrument Rating Helicopter
• 2500 hours helicopter total time (1500 as PIC)
• 1000 turbine (500 in type: AS350)
• Helicopter CFI preferred
• ENG experience preferred
• Must have five years of experience in the aviation industry
