Objective:

The candidate will maintain supervisory authority over the stage check process under Part 141 and Part 61 for both VFR and IFR courses, and maintain communication with Assistant Chief Flight Instructors and Team Leaders.  This person will also assist the Chief Flight Instructor(s) with regard to FAA regulatory requirements and base operations, including, but not limited to:  Part 141 Operations, Academy Procedures and Policies, and CFI training.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Allocate stage checks to appropriate stage check instructors
  • Track pass/fail rates for all stage checks and instructors
  • Provide feedback to individual instructors regarding stage check performance
  • Conduct monthly stage check pilot meetings to improve areas of weakness
  • Maintain and amend file documents as necessary to ensure document accuracy
  • Track and update GPS database cards for the Academy fleet
  • Conduct Flight Training Device quality assurance checks
  • Coordinate with Standardization Manager and Student Coordinator to ensure standardization within the Academy
  • Assist Chief Instructor with amendments or updates to new and existing Training Course Outlines (TCO’s)
  • Assist Chief Instructor with new hire forecasting
  • Conduct flight instructor proficiency checks under Part 141, as required
  • Provide CFI instruction and advanced flight training such as full down autorotation and safety training

Education / Certifications / Languages:

 

  • Holds a current FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter Pilot Certificate with Instrument-Helicopter Rating
  • Holds a current FAA Flight Instructor Rotorcraft-Helicopter Certificate with Instrument Helicopter
  • 50 hours of flight time under actual or simulated instrument conditions
  • 200 flight hours of instrument instructor experience
  • Holds a current FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate
  • Helicopter flight time of more than 1000 hours preferred
  • Experience with Robinson R-22 model helicopter essential
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office© Professional applications.
