Head of Royal Travel
Buckingham Palace, £55,000 - £75,000 plus benefits
This role is critical to ensuring that the Royal Household operates and purchases
efficient, cost effective and appropriate travel services for the official duties of
Members of the Royal Family and their Households.
Working closely with the Finance Director, you will have overall responsibility for
organising travel provided by scheduled fixed wing aircraft, chartered aircraft and
The Queen's Helicopter Flight, as well as overseeing usage of scheduled train
services and the Royal Train. You will also liaise with the relevant authorities
to provide advice and recommendations on travel, taking into account security,
safety and environmental issues. Leading a small team in the Royal Travel office,
you will be required to ensure planning and procedures are highly effective,
and research and negotiate value for money contracts and options for travel,
while understanding and recommending best industry practice in risk and
safety management.
To undertake this demanding role you will have:
Commercial experience of management of travel and logistics in an environment
where safety and high standards are of paramount importance.
Ideally civil or military experience as a pilot (or military flight crew) of a fixed
wing aircraft.
Good judgement and the ability to analyse complex situations and provide
soundly based advice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Negotiating skills and the experience of managing contracts and cost. - Planning and organisational skills with an eye for detail.
Good team leadership and management skills.
This position is based in London, with some requirement to travel
in the UK and overseas.
