Objective:
Manage all aspects of the Bristow Academy FAA flight training program, with emphasis on safety, standards, and regulations at all U.S. campuses.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure the highest quality of flight and ground training in accordance with Bristow Academy’s philosophy.
- Ensure standardization of maneuvers being flown in accordance with the Practical Test Standards.
- Oversee student graduation under Part 141, which includes monitoring student progress, enhancing training processes, and ensuring record-keeping standards across all US campuses.
- Comply with all FAA requirements and regulations, including facility inspections and Assistant Chief checkouts.
- Ensure adherence to guidelines of the Letter of Agreement between ATC and Bristow Academy Inc.
- Maintain and update all VFR training course outlines and syllabi.
- Provide support and oversight of Assistant Chief Flight Instructors.
- Prepare annual training budget for each base location.
- Take responsibility for appropriate use of company resources to ensure the business unit operates within budget.
- Comply with all school policies, rules and Federal regulations.
- Ensure observance of airport and practice area operations and cooperate with local Air Traffic Control.
- Ensure that Operations Manual changes are implemented across all base locations and ensure local procedures and practices are reflected accordingly.
- Implement Bristow Target Zero Safety Program in all areas. Promote a safety conscious environment in the workplace and home environment. Promote Target Zero to all staff and students.
- Provide guidance and required training for all instructors.
- Coordinate with Assistant Chief Flight Instructors, General Manager, Human Resources, and Student Services to ensure appropriate levels of staffing.
- Meet on a quarterly basis with all direct reports to discuss goals, objectives, and work performance against objectives and recommend employees for promotion where appropriate.
- Ensure adequate employee training, evaluation, safety and personnel systems are utilized.
- Address personnel issues with direct reports, General Manager, and Human Resources, communicating with the Director if an appropriate resolution can not be found.
- Motivate and monitor Flight Instructors performance. Provide them with guidance and training as required.
- Promote further development of existing and new courses.
- Provide leadership by communicating well, maintaining good business relationships and representing Bristow Academy in a positive light.
Required Skills, Certifications, Licenses, Experience:
- Hold a current FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter Pilot Certificate
- Hold a current FAA Flight Instructor Rotorcraft-Helicopter Certificate
- Hold a current FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate or higher
- Have at least 2000 hours as Pilot In Command (PIC) helicopter
- Have experience with Robinson R-22 and Schweizer 300CB/CBi model helicopter, required
- Have experience with Robinson R-44 and Bell 206 model helicopters advantageous, but not required
- Have flight training experience, acquired as either a certificated flight instructor or an instructor in a military pilot flight training program, or a combination thereof, consisting of at least:
- 3 years and a total of 1000 flight hours; or
- 1500 flight hours
