Job Desc: Job Summary:

Position will interface with the program and customer as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the UH-1N aircraft. In this role the candidate will provide training to personnel and the customer, examine aircraft and audit items such as flight plans and other documents. Candidates will also work to coordinate scheduling and logistics of various aircraft that are needed by the customer to complete the mission.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the supervisor and management of pilots assigned to the company Helicopter MX Branch.
  • Responsible for performing test flights and demonstrating aircraft proficiency upon completion of aircraft maintenance or modifications on UH-1N helicopters.
  • Determines in accordance with publications and procedures the airworthiness of aircraft prior to release for flight.
  • Performs troubleshooting procedures of aircraft on the ground and during flight, and makes appropriate write-ups or gives verbal instructions to correct deficiencies.
  • Performs recovery flights and ferries aircraft to additional sites, such as depots .
  • Verifies forms and records used in the performance of maintenance to ensure they comply with work performed prior to ground or flight checks.
  • Runs-up aircraft for alert status performs test on modifications, and functions as a member of Maintenance. Recovery Teams when an operational check or test flight is required. Night sorties or IFR shall only occur on recovery, training or ferry flights and dispersals.
  • Flies with military aircrews and provides instruction and currency training as required.
  • Interprets meteorological data as it pertains to filing a flight plan for the navigational course of flight needed for a sortie and files a flight plan for all flights using authorized processes.
  • Computes and annotation of weight and balance logs for the aircraft.
  • Operates navigational and communication equipment installed on the aircraft.
    OTHER or ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Knowledge & Skills:

  • Must have demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written. Must be fluent in the English language.
  • Experience developing procedures and work instructions.
  • Experience in scheduling and logistics of the movement of aircraft.
  • Proficiency in developing flight plans and critiquing flight plans .
  • Experience in Quality Assurance of Flight Maintenance.
  • Security Clearance required and must maintain a security clearance.
  • Proficiency in various computer programs desirable (ex: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio etc.)

    Requirements:

    Travel requirements will vary with assignment and business assignment.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Works in a normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions. May be exposed to loud aircraft, and the usual exhaust of aircraft. Environment can be hot at times on the flight line and in the flight hangers with considerable walking between buildings.
  • Must be able to work varied weekly schedules driven by maintenance test flights and other operational requirements .
  • Able to pass flight proficiency examinations by the a military authorized examination agency.
  • Shall possess or be able to attain a current FAA Medical Certificate Second Class.

    Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years working as a trainer with aircraft services or military.
  • Proven experience working in complex and matrixed environments successfully .
  • Shall be Instructor Pilot qualified IAW AFI 11-2UH-1NV1 and DCMA 8210.1.
  • Shall meet the training and qualification requirements of AFI 10-220 and DCMA 8210.0.
  • Shall possess a valid FAA commercial pilot certificate with rotorcraft and instrument ratings.
  • Shall have satisfactorily completed a proficiency check within the previous 12 months.
  • Shall have upon request provide documentation of graduating from one or another of the following:
  • -The US Army’s UH-1 Maintenance Test Pilot Course
  • -The USAF Function Check Flight Certification
  • -The FAA test flight program, in the UH-1 or commercial equivalent

    Education:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma with a Bachelor Degree in related Degree preferred.
  • Shall have a minimum of 1500 hours first pilot with 500 hours experience in helicopters of which at least 300 hours must have been in the UH-1 or commercial equivalent prior to performing functional check flight, UH-1N preferable.
