California Shock Trauma Air Rescue (CALSTAR) is a nonprofit regional air ambulance service. Our mission is to save lives, reduce disability and speed recovery for victims of trauma and illness. CALSTAR has an immediate opening for a full time: EMS Pilot – 2 positions (1-Concord and 1-Gilroy, CA)
The EMS Pilot is the Pilot-in-command of the aircraft and reports directly to the Lead Pilot and is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of each flight assignment and is authorized by CALSTAR to exercise operational control for each flight he/she is assigned to. In order to be considered as a CALSTAR helicopter line pilot, a person must have the following qualifications:
- Commercial Pilot Rotorcraft-Helicopter - Instrument Rating - 3,000 hours total helicopter flight time as PIC - 1,500 hours turbine helicopter time - 150 hours Night
Job duties: 1. Pilot in Command will determine that on-board CALSTAR personnel are legally licensed, adequately rested and in proper dress. 2. Plans flight assignments and obtains briefing information regarding purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures and special instructions. 3. Prepares or supervises preparation of flight plan considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise control data, airport facilities and navigational aids. 4. Supervises crewmembers to ensure proper planning and flight preparation.
Specific requirements:
- Other considerations are previous EMS, mountain, IFR, remote locations and NVG experience, multi-engine, turbine, etc. - Relocation to Santa Maria or commutable distance is essential - Successful candidate must be able to pass a drug test
