Hillsboro Aviation, Inc. is looking for a professional helicopter pilot with proven management and leadership skills to join our team as the Assistant Chief Pilot in the Portland, OR area.

Hillsboro Aviation, a 31 year-old well established and growing company, operates 12 turbine aircraft including a B205A1++, B407, B206 series helicopters as well as C90 King Airs on the Part 135 certificate. The Assistant Chief Pilot is based out of Hillsboro, OR; his/her primary responsibilities are planning, scheduling and training a staff of approximately 20 pilots as well as the corresponding record keeping and auditing. Additional responsibilities include the support of the marketing and sales efforts for the department. Applicant should maintain proficiency in the various helicopter make and models the company operates as well as in the different areas of operations conducted (natural resource flying, fire fighting, seismic, precision vertical reference). Field supervision as well as occasional relief activity will require the candidate to travel to national as well as international operation sites.
The perfect candidate will be able to work independently under little supervision; he/she is organized, has strong work ethics and a desire to strive for organizational / operational improvements utilizing our established Safety Management System. Applicant should be able to formulate those solutions in writing for the Standard Operating Procedures and/or the General Operating Manual. Applicant will also have very strong communication skills to maintain direct contact with the Chief Pilot as well as the staff in the field. Previous experience as a Part 135 Assistant Chief Pilot or Chief Pilot as well as proven record keeping skills is considered a strong plus for the position.

Requirements:
  • FAA issued Commercial or ATP Pilot certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter and Instrument rating with English Proficiency Endorsement; a Rotorcraft-Helicopter Instructor rating as well as an Airplane rating is a plus
  • Current Class II Medical
  • Minimum 4,000 hours PIC Helicopter
  • Minimum 3000 hours PIC Turbine Helicopter
  • Minimum 500 hours Mountain (Helicopter / above 8,000 MSL)
  • Minimum 400 hours Vertical Reference; 50 hrs recent experience within the last 12 months preferred
  • Currently holds or will obtain a passport for international travel
  • Good MS Word and Excel computer skills
  • Bell206B/L Series Helicopters experience preferred
  • Bell 407 Helicopter experience preferred
  • Bell 205A1++ experience preferred
  • Seismic, Fire and Utility background preferred
  • Short Haul experience preferred
  • Previous Bell Helicopter Factory Schools preferred
  •  Must be legal to work in the US and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and be capable to climb the aircraft to perform pre-flight and other pilot related duties.
