This job is located in Fort Worth, TX, the 16th largest city in the United States and home of a large aerospace industry. Epic Helicopters is the largest tour operator in D/FW metroplex, a Part 135 helicopter air carrier (pax and cargo), Part 141 pilot school, Robinson Authorized Service Center and a leader in compliance and safety excellence. The company maintains an accident and incident free record. Epic Helicopters is searching for an exceptional candidate with a background in aviation management, operations and leadership. This candidate should have good business sense and strong ethics.

Requirements: Required Minimum Flight Experience

  • 2,000 hours PIC helicopter
  • 1,500 hours flight instruction given
  • 200 hours instruction given in Robinson helicopters 
  • 200 hours PIC in R44 helicopters
  • 200 hours PIC in R22 helicopters
  • 100 hours cross-country flight (point-to-point, no minimum distance)
  • 100 hours actual or simulated instrument
  • 25 hours of night cross-country flight (point-to-point, no minimum distance)
  • 50 hours flight time in the last 12 months
  • 400 instrument instruction given or 2 years as instrument instructor with 250 hours instrument instruction given (preferred)
  • Proficient in full-down auto rotations

Required Certificates, Ratings and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate (ATP preferred)
  • Current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter and Instrument-Helicopter ratings
  • FAA 2nd class medical
  • 3 years previous aviation management experience (previous experience as Chief Pilot or DO strongly preferred; experience can be cumulative)
  • Meet the requirements of Part 119.71(d)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Job Functions

  • Chief Pilot reports directly to the Director of Operations
  • Conduct crewmember training and standardization for Part 135 company pilots as well as manage and keep current the associated training programs, materials and training records
  • Manage the Flight Department, including upkeep of company pilot records, pilot assignments and schedules
  • Coordinate with Director of Maintenance on aircraft scheduling to accommodate maintenance requirements
  • Communicate with local FSDO regarding issues related to certificate management
  • Maintain company controlled documents
  • Exercise operational control duties for the company
  • Ensure flight operations are conducted safely and in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, the General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, and company policy and procedure.
  • Perform student stage checks, oversee the quality of student pilot training and maintain student pilot records in accordance with Part 141
  • Act as PIC for company flights as needed
  • Must have a very strong understanding of applicable FARs with respect to certificate management.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations
