Hillsboro Aviation is offering a line pilot position within the contract and charter department for an experienced helicopter pilot with proven field performance to join our team in the Portland, OR area as well as other locations throughout the US.
Hillsboro Aviation, founded in 1980 is a well established and diverse company with several core business units. The contract and charter department operates 12 turbine aircraft including B205A1++, B407 and B206 series helicopters.
The Line Pilot is based out of Hillsboro, OR; his/her main responsibility is to cover an established DOI fire fighting / SAR contract in southern Utah with a B407 requiring proficiency in 150 ft vertical reference operations in order to pass a short haul check ride. Other missions during the shoulder season include natural resource flying, seismic, survey flights and construction support as well as film and photo flights. Other duties as well as maintenance flight will be assigned as needed. This mix of activities might require the pilot to relocate to the Portland / Hillsboro area. The work schedule for the fire season is 12on/2off; 14on/14off during the winter season, all other assignments as needed.
The candidate must be a motivated and professional individual with excellent customer service skills; he/she will be able to work independently under little supervision; he/she is organized, has strong work ethics and a desire to strive for organizational and operational improvements utilizing our established Safety Management System.
The offered line pilot position is a full-time position for 10 months out of the year. The pilot will take two months off between November and March.

- FAA issued rotorcraft-helicopter ATP or commercial pilot certificate with instrument rating and English proficiency endorsement
- Current class II medical
- Minimum 1,500 hours PIC turbine helicopters
- Minimum 300 hours PIC B407
- Minimum 300 hours PIC mountain (Helicopter / above 8,000 MSL)
- Minimum 300 hours PIC vertical reference (single pilot external load)
- Previous USFS/DOI fire/natural resource experience
- USFS/DOI cardable in B407 for 2014
- Currently holds or will obtain a passport for international travel
- Good MS Word and Excel computer skills
- Seismic or other utility background preferred
- Short haul experience preferred
- Recent vertical reference experience preferred
- B206B, B206L or B205 time preferred
- Previous Bell Helicopter Factory School preferred
Must be legal to work in the US and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and be capable to climb the aircraft to perform pre-flight and other pilot related duties
