Chief Helicopter Pilot – Australia

Job Description

We are a commercial helicopter operation in Queensland Australia looking to appoint a Chief Pilot.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director your appointment to this role is critical to the success of our organisation.  Thesuccessful applicant must be experienced in balancing not only the requirements of CASA, but of our internal systems and processes, commercial requirements and client service level agreements.

Your responsibilities will include:
•Management, recruitment, training and leadership of our significant flight team
•Participation in our management team function providing input into strategic, commercial, contractual and compliance goals and requirements of our business
•Work closely, collaboratively and effectively with the management team, to ensure the goals and objectives of the business are met.
•Ensuring compliance with the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR’s) , the Act and Civil Aviation Orders
•Liaison and communication with CASA as required
•Management and documentation of internal processes and systems underpinning compliance with CASR’s
•Arranging and managing crew and aircraft rosters
•Ensuring all flight personnel are suitably qualified, trained and appropriate documentation is collected and documented in relation to such qualifications, training and experience
•Manage, implement and deliver flight personnel training
•Manage, document and audit all SOP’s for flight operations, the flight team and each aircraft type.

About You

Your experience/licenses and certifications will include a current:
•Australian Commercial Helicopter Pilot License (or higher)
•Instructor rating
•Endorsements including MD500, EC120, AS350
•Class 1 Medical
•Minimum 5000hrs PIC on helicopters
•valid Low Flying Rating, preferable 1500+ hours
•current Dangerous Goods by Air Certificate

Highly regarded, experienced in and strong knowledge of:
•Writing and reviewing policies, procedures and guidelines and ability to provide advice and policy interpretation
•ISO 9001 compliance
•Workplace, Health and Safety compliance
•Recruitment, training, leadership and development of flight personnel

You will have:
•Strong management, leadership and communication skills, and demonstrated leadership experience
•The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
•Safety as your utmost priority, with very high personal standards.
•Experience leading a large diverse team
•A passion for flying!  This role will take you to often distant and remote locations for possibly weeks at a time.
