Job Description

Job Title: Flight Instructor Helicopter, CFII

Grade: Entry Level Pay: NEG/hr flight

Supervisor: Steven Reel Status: Employee

 

FUNCTION:

 

Provide backup and support to Flight Instructors and maintenance staff, manage incoming appointments and telephone scheduling. Maintain customer relations and assist flight instructors with schedules, flight records, course standards and training requirements.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

 

This is a position which will entail on-the-job-training as a CFII. As such, your primary duties will include:

1. Staffing the appointment desk and maintaining customer schedules

2. Assisting with the coordination of school activities

3. Assisting the maintenance staff with shop duties

4. Maintain aircraft records and fuel usage

5. Assist with flight operations in the office and on the ramp

6. Learn the operation of the fuel pump and assist instructors with fueling aircraft

7. Operate quickbooks and process customer invoices/sales receipts

SECONDARY DUTIES:

 

You will operate as a junior CFII. You will provide the following, in accordance with the senior CFII schedules:

1. Perform those flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations in accordance with the approved Training Course Outline.

2. Ensure all students understand and practice all aspects of Boston Helicopters Safety Program.

3. Regularly schedule each assigned student to ensure satisfactory progress through the course and immediately inform supervisor of any delays in training or satisfactory progress.

4. Responsible for accurately maintaining all appropriate records to include student training record, student logbook, and computer records.

5. Ensure that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by all assigned students as stipulated in the applicable Training Course Outline.

6. Initiate stage check and requests for assigned students. (when qualified)

7. Responsible for the timely course completion of all flight students assigned, including completion of required paperwork and assignment of final course grade. (when qualified)

8. Monitor the maintenance condition of the training aircraft, and inform Boston Helicopters maintenance personnel of any questionable items.

9. Recommend curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate and develop new curriculum or courseware as assigned.

10. File incident reports as necessary to report any observed safety violations, or situations that may affect the safety of flight.

11. Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings as assigned.

12. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

1. Education/Special Training/Experience Required:

2. FAA Certified Flight Instructor, Rotorcraft Helicopter.

3. Special Skills Required:

R-22 Instructor Endorsement Required. Candidates with R-22/R-44 Instructor Endorsements will be given first preference.

1. Aircraft piloting skills, including familiarity with and ability to perform required flight maneuvers and procedures.

2. Knowledge of and ability to apply effective instructional technique in the classroom and in flight.

3. Knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations and school Academic administrative, operational procedures and requirements.

4. Ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced and noisy environment while exercising sound judgment at all times.

5. Maximum flight weight of 170 lbs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Must hold a current FAA Class I, Class II, or Class III Medical Certificate.

2. Must be able to lift 35-50 lbs regularly.

PRODUCTIVITY/PERFORMANCE:

 

1. Perform an average of 40 instructional hours per two-week pay period. (when qualified)

2. Maintain 80% pass rate for final review and stage checks.
