Immediate opening for experienced helicopter pilot for the Fort Worth Police Department. This is a 24/7 operation and the selected candidate must be able to work a fluctuating 24 hour schedule as required.

The pilot will provide safe and efficient air transportation services in support of various Police Department functions including traffic patrol and enforcement, pursuit of criminals, location and spotlighting of crime scenes or various other law enforcement activities.
   

Requirements: Must be able to operate and maneuver helicopter for assigned police functions in a safe and effective manner, perform aerial searches to locate and spot light crime scenes and missing persons as required. Must perform pre and post flight inspections of helicopters and auxiliary equipment and prepare flight inspection reports and other analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.

The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:

  • Must be current for PIC under FAR parts 61.56 and 61.57, with a minimum two years of experience as a helicopter pilot.

To be considered for interview, please verify in resume and/or cover letter minimum of 2000 hours of helicopter flight time to include:

  • 250 hours of helicopter night flight time and
  • 500 hours flight time in Bell 206 or OH58

All candidates will be asked to provide logbook verification prior to interview.

High School Diploma or GED supplemented by specialized training in helicopter piloting required. Preference given to higher levels of education, training, and experience as it relates to the vacancy. Must possess a valid FAA Commercial Pilot’s License with Rotorcraft-Helicopter rating. Must possess a valid FAA 1st or 2nd Class Medical Certificate. Instrument Helicopter Rating Preferred.

All finalists will be asked to pass a check-ride in a Bell 206BIII.

Selected candidate must pass a criminal history check, polygraph examination, drug screen and fingerprint check.

Environmental Conditions: Aerial field environment; travel from site to site; noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, work at heights.

Physical Conditions: Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for light lifting or carrying; sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
