Job Description

An exciting opportunity to join Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore (BMCSO), a leading provider of mission-critical helicopter services to the air ambulance, police and offshore sectors.  BMCSO provides world-class operations to our customers helping them to save lives and protect communities every day.

Our fleet of 30 helicopters from bases across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland has been providing dedicated air ambulance support for more than 20 years and our police helicopters have been supporting UK communities for almost a decade.  BMCSO constantly invests in new aircraft, equipment and training to ensure the consistent capability to deliver safe, dependable operational excellence at all times.

Responsibilities

As a continuing part of a new and exciting project for the Wales Air Ambulance, BMCSO is looking to recruit another pilot for its Retrieval / Air Ambulance role. The position requires the successful candidates to live within 25 miles / 45 minutes of Cardiff Tremorfa Heliport and will utilise a 4/4 roster. Working hours will be 12 hour shift duties within FTL limits.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum requirements for candidates for this position are:

  • Hold an EASA ATPL (H)

Experience required:

  • 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters; or
  • 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters
  • 2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience
  • 500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation
  • 20 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
  • Fluent English, Driving License, Passport, Right to Work in the UK.

Candidates would also ideally:

  • Be qualified and instrument rated on both the EC135.
  • Have current or recent Air Ambulance / HEMS experience.
